The Diode Dynamics SS3 SAE/DOT Type SD Fog Light Kit is CAD-designed to use existing mounting points and is compatible with 2011–2016 Ford F-250 and F-350 models. This guide walks through bracket assembly, installation, wiring, and proper aiming of your new SS3 fog lights.

Installation Tools
- 13mm socket
- 8mm socket
- Ratchet
- Trim removal tool or flathead screwdriver
- Pick tool
- 5/32” Allen key
- Wire strippers/crimpers (if tapping a circuit for backlight power)
Time Required: Approximately 1–2 hours.
Installation Instructions
Step 1 – Remove metal brace
Remove the metal brace to gain access to the foglight bracket assembly. Use a 13mm socket and ratchet to remove the four bolts.
Step 2 – Remove foglight bracket assembly
With the metal brace removed, remove the entire foglight bracket assembly by removing the three 8mm bolts.
Step 3 – Remove retaining hardware
Set the foglight bracket assembly on a table. Remove the four metal retaining washers using a pick or flathead screwdriver. Then remove the four 13mm nuts that secure the front bezel to the foglight bracket. These parts will be reused.
Step 4 – Remove adjustment screw
Remove the adjustment aiming screw using an 8mm socket. The adjustment screw, spring, and plastic clip will be reused.
Step 5 – Remove OEM lamp
Remove the two plastic push rivets that secure the OEM lamp onto the foglight bracket using a trim removal tool or flathead screwdriver. These will be reused.
Step 6 – Attach Type SD bracket to pod
Using the included hardware, attach the Type SD bracket to the SS3 pod. Make sure the bracket is in the correct orientation as shown in the guide. Tighten the bolts down. Do not overtighten or use power tools.
NOTE: The third mounting point will be used for aiming.
Step 7 – Install bracket onto factory assembly
Install the Type SD bracket onto the factory foglight bracket by reinstalling the plastic push rivets.
Step 8 – Reinstall adjustment components
Reinstall the adjustment screw, spring, and plastic clip to the bottom of the bracket.
Step 9 – Reattach front bezel
Reattach the front bezel using the four 13mm nuts. Do not overtighten.
Step 10 – Reattach retaining washers
Reattach the metal retaining washers.
Step 11 – Reinstall bracket assembly
Reinstall the entire foglight bracket assembly back onto the vehicle using the three 8mm bolts.
Step 12 – Connect wiring
Use the included wire adapters to connect the pod to the vehicle wiring harness. Test function. If the light does not turn on, try flipping the connector 180°.
Connect the backlight power wire to a fused 12V source (commonly parking light or sidemarker circuit). T-Taps are included for this purpose.
NOTE: Power source must be fused. Do not connect directly to vehicle battery.
Step 13 – Repeat on opposite side
Repeat the steps on the other side of the vehicle.
Aiming Instructions
Step 14 – Position vehicle
Park your vehicle 25 feet away from a wall or garage door on a level surface.
Step 15 – Measure mounting height
Measure the distance between the ground and the center of your SS3 pod. This is your mounting height.
Step 16 – Mark cutoff line
Mark the mounting height on the wall using tape. Add another piece of tape four inches below the mounting height. This is your fog light cutoff line.
Step 17 – Aim the pods
Using the adjustment screw, aim your SS3 pods so that the top of the beam pattern is on the cutoff line mark.
Step 18 – Reinstall metal brace
Finish the installation by reinstalling the metal brace using the 13mm bolts removed in Step 1.
